Last weekend 7 of us gathered in Byrne Texas and had a weekend of fun and sewing. These are my sewing buddies and we have shared the fun and joy of sewing for many years. Kathy and I are the original group starters and we have been sewing friends for over 30 years. How blessed I am ! We went to the Byrne quilt show and festival and saw some beautiful quilts hanging in the center of town. We were all inspired in many ways. We stayed up until way past midnight sewing and having fun. Thanks ladies for a wonderful weekend.
I took a stack of 5 inch squares and just started sewing them together. There is something very fun and therapeutic about just sewing squares together. here is my final result. It is lap size but I think I may add a few more rows.
I also had this one almost finished and it is one of my favorites. I have made it before and I already have some fabrics out to make another one. It is fast and fun, and I love that! The tutorial is here.
I am currently working on 3 different things and have the blocks completed for 3 more small quilts and a new school bag. but those are not finished. I was also away for a few days this week because my youngest daughter graduated form Texas State University. So proud of my girls. Love them!
Happy sewing!
There really is something therapeutic about sewing squares together. I love scrappy and your square quilt is very pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteI love what I call mindless sewing, where I can sew without too much thinking. Your weekend looks like it was so much fun and productive. Plus, congratulations to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric play in your chevron quilt! Fantastic work.
ReplyDeleteI didn't add a border to my chevron and like the look of it! Thanks for sharing this post under our Tuesday Archives Chevron Theme. (PS...it's almost summer vacation!!!!)
