New Baby!

It has been a few weeks since I have posted but I have not been idle. I have gotten lots done but very few big finishes. I did manage to quickly quilt up this last state flower quilt. I have made 2 others just like it and maybe will pass it along, not sure where it will go but I just did the simple stipple and quilted it up. I am not crazy about the binding but it was from my stash, so no money spent. Success!
Now the big project begins. My daughter is expecting her second baby in April. It's a boy! We found a crib set she liked but it was just silk screened on the fabric and not exactly as nice as I would like so...... I took the pictures and decided to applique on the designs. I'm not sure I realized how much work it would be and how much figuring out I would have to do but,,,I think I made it. the figuring and cutting was the biggest hurdle. So here is the process and results.
The quilt. it is put together and appliqued. I am going to quilt the green like grass with big long lines and make it look like tall grass. I think it will be beautiful quilted up. the grass on the white part is stiched on with an applique stitch. I am thinking of adding another border. thoughts?
I also made her 2 sheets for the crib to match.
I quickly made a receiving blanket in the woodsy theme.
I also cut out all the pieces for a dust ruffle that will have the deer on them and a bumper pad.i got 2 sides of the dust ruffle done with the deer, no grass yet. but progress.
I needed a break from the deer so in between the deer I am quickly throwing together a woodsy quilt, blocks are done.
Bumper pads are cut so my serious work is ahead of me.It will be lovely when done!

  1. Your state flower quilt is lovely, but Awwh! That little deer quilt top and accessories is fabulous!!! Yes, I think you should add a border (maybe the brown polka dot or green or I don't know?). It is beautiful just as it is! Your daughter and new grandbaby are very fortunate for your love and skill!

  3. I'm so excited for you! Your projects are so cute. I don't think it needs a border unless you want it to be bigger. Totally up to you. :)
