So Many Things to do!

I had so many things to do that I have not posted in awhile. I know I will forget some of them.
Halloween. the quilt with the square and the 4 square is quilted and gone already. This next one I never showed the top but it is the scraps put together in strips with a small strip of black in between. I had some trouble figuring out how to quilt it but its coming out OK. Hopefully will be done soon. In time for the next Halloween for sure.

Next up is the chevron Halloween. I just don't know how to quilt that one with all the colors. different designs in each zig zag? what color thread? I'm still thinking.
I got another baby quilt done. I love the tutorial over at My quilt infatuation. Thanks Kelly! I have made this for a baby gift about 5 times already. It's easy quick and just lovely! For a purple nursery!!
I love the fabrics and wanted to show them off with big pieces.

I also hit a sale at Joann fabrics for flannel and bought a bunch to stock up on flannel blankets for those second babies coming around.
My daughter has a wedding coming up and the couple has very little left on the registry so she decided to do a quilt for a gift and this momma is helping her. We are doing the easy peasy chevron from Kellys blog again!!! Fun, easy and will be great. I look forward to showing the finished product. In progress right now.
Lat year at Christmas we bought some breakfast food for all the gen ed teachers that work with our Sped kids and I made them all a small tissue holder. they all loved it, so this year I am working on luggage tags. 12 done and 20 more to do, but I love em.

Finally, I went to preview night last night at the quilt show. AWESOME!!
My main goal was more of the superior bottom line thread. It is amazing to quilt with. I love it and wanted more colors.
A few extra finds!! I have a year to get it all done! We shall see. It sure will be fun.

Trick or Treat

I said in my last post that I have wanted a Halloween quilt for a very long time, but I think I am taking it a wee bit too far. The first one I made was a treat. I love it and I love how it looks with the added borders. I am hoping to get  going on the quilting this weekend.

The second was a trick. Did not turn out as expected but I know my mistake. The lights and darks are not correct in the 4 patch and that kind of messed it all up. But, I love the little vintage witch fabric from Joann's. I have a third one going tonight. I guess I have 3 girls so maybe I should make 4!!
Trick or treat to me!

Coming Back

I sort of had the wind knocked out of my sail but I am feeling a bit of a breeze. It has been a rough 6 months but I am slowly coming back up to speed with life and a little with quilting.

I have always wanted a Halloween quilt and I finally have one going ! I think I will add some borders for a bigger finish but I LOVE it!!
I needed some mindless sewing so I made yet another of this pattern. It is such an easy fun pattern to make especially when it is late at night and I have had a long day. simple sewing at it's finest!
And to finish off some leftover fabric for my daughter. some baby quilts to give away. they still need borders but I think I will let her help on that.

I had a very fun sewing weekend away just 2 weeks ago and we had a very good time. Our finest hostess made each of us a thread catcher for our work station. I was thrilled and I love it. I guess it does not take much to make me happy sometimes.
And finally, My sweet grand daughter turned 2!!! She is crazy about Minnie mouse so we had a Minnie party. I made her a pink Minnie dress and my daughter made her awesome ears with a big pink bow. She did not want to take the dress off and wants to wear it all the time. I think it was a hit! She was thrilled when she saw herself in the mirror! Oh so fun.

Baby Shower time!

tomorrow is a baby shower and her nursery colors were bright so this was a fun one. These are the same fabrics used in 2 other quilts and I still love them. I have gotten some good mileage out of those! I love that!!
The  back has the center strip that I cut out. I really like that.
2 burp cloths to match along with a pink stuffed bunny,,,,Done!
I still have time and I may stay up late so...she may get a small bag or a small diaper holder, Or a small zipper bag for baby things. We shall see what pops out by midnight!!!

Mom's quilt

I can't believe a month has gone by. My last post was July 4. The next day my sister called from Ohio and I flew back right away. My mom, who was my first sewing inspiration and a truly wonderful woman in many ways passed away on July 10th. She gave me a great love to create and sew, a desire to make wonderful things for those I love and passed on the pure joy of sewing. Thank you Mom!
I made this quilt for My mom and dad about 5 years ago when they were both here. My mom went shopping with me and chose the fabric, she had some vision back then, and she sort of chose the pattern too. I just returned home last Sunday and it came home with me. So, My finish this week was one from a few years back. It is a queen size and looked wonderful on her bed. She really liked it.

It's really a very pretty green.
Here's my sweet mom with my sister and brother as well. Taken last summer. She was 91 and amazing. Love you Mom!!

Christmas in July again!

Christmas! Yes, I had some free fat quarters from a box and decided to make them up for a donation ready to give away when the Holidays come around. The prints on some of the fabrics were a bit large so this was an easy choice to show that off. It is already quilted up and almost done with the binding. Yay!
This was the one from last week. Quilted, binding on. Done! Another Yay!
This little sweetie is quilted and in the box, ready to send my nephew and his wife for their little girl. another Done! another Yay! good week.

Summer!!

I feel like I have been away for forever! I have done lots of sewing and given several things away and have no pictures. A few things I did remember and the last couple weeks have gotten some things done. But first, the bumper pads to match the new babys quilt are finally finished. All the animals were appliqued on and the grass and flowers were stitched on. It was a lot of work but turned out so very nice.

The back was alternating green and brown polka dot. Once again the pictures do not do it justice. I must investigate better pictures.
I also made these travel/cosmetic bags for one of my harp students who graduated from high school and will be headed off to college. She is a sweet girl, a lovely player and I will miss her!
I made one quilt just like this and gave it away immediately but this week made another just like it, so this is number 2! It came from Kelly at My quilt infatuation and is called strip Tango. I love the fabrics and the pattern, Thanks Kelly! I will quilt it up right away.
I posted a picture on my last post with a twin, bright colored quilt for my grand daughters room and I took the scraps and cut them into squares and took them to Ohio with me. After getting my mom to bed I would sew until late at night sometimes. I mixed some white in there to stretch it out along with a few other scraps and have a nice extra quilt for the trundle bed that matches! I love it. It just needs to be quilted up as well. I also started a black and white quilt but that is still in progress.  I am home for a few weeks and hope to get some serious sewing in. Its summer and I can stay up late. Hurray!
